Summary – “An amazing day trip to the emotional Auschwitz Nazi German concentration camp”
Auschwitz, the Nazi prisoner of war camp is known worldwide as a cemetery and the site of one of the world’s most horrific genocidal atrocities. It is a must see place for anyone, and everyone. This place, a former Nazi German concentration camp does make a great impression, and can give a partial view into the scope of the Holocaust.
It all started back in the 1940’s with the camp being built for Polish political prisoners, a couple years later it had transformed into the focal point of extermination. During a five year period from 1940, it is believed around 1.500,000 people mainly Polish and Jews, but also POWs, Gypsies, Russians and other nationalities died here.
This sensational tour starts with a 15 minutes video documentary introduction about how the camp was liberated, and then the museum guide will lead you around the exhibitions in some of the prison blocks, crematorium and gas chamber.
Next the tour moves on the Auschwitz II (Birkenau), where you will climb the watch tower, and cast your eyes over the largest Nazi extermination camp. It goes without saying that visiting Auschwitz for the first time can be an overwhelming experience and quite shocking, therefore we do not recommend this tour for children under the age of 12.
Then final part of the tour is a choice between visiting Auschwitz III (Monowitz), the former IG Farben factory or if you would rather something a little lighter, then a visit to the rather charming town of Silesian in Oswiecim.
The duration of the tour is 9 hours.
