Summary – “So much to see, we thought we spread it over two days…”
This amazing two day tour is quite simply amazing and is the perfect choice for anyone wanting to experience something different while exploring the more rural parts of South East Poland. The main attraction of this tour are the wooden churches, all of which were added to the UNESCO heritage list as examples of surviving Gothic churches built in horizontal log technique.
Even though these are actually Roman Catholic churches, they are typical to a style more noticeable in the Middle East. There are similar churches found in Romania (the Maramures region) and in Slovakia.
These churches were usually founded by local rich nobility. And other similar Orthodox wooden churches can be found further to the east in Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine.
