Hel, the Kashubian village was first mentioned in 1198. And although it is surrounded by sand and sea, it was only official recognised as a sea-side resort in 1986. As far as sea-side resorts go, it is quite special. A small town surrounded by the most wonderful coastal seaside views. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and of course souvenir sellers. To be honest, a similar setup somewhere else may be considered cheesy, but not in Hel. This tiny town has an essnece that the Polish describe as “działa”, which basically means “it works”
Overall, a day trip to Hel is definitely worth considering if you are in the Gdansk, Sopot or Gdynia region and would like to day out that’s a little different. If you like beaches, you’ll love Hel. And coupled with the extreme RIB ride too and from, you’ll love our Hel trip even more.
