Summary – “Be seduced by the magic that is Gdansk….”
Gdansk it has to be said is a wonderful city with a magical atmosphere that you can almost taste. There are so many attractions spiraling from the center of the Old Town, such a wealth of history, and local stories that blend legend with folktales.
About the Tour
The tour starts in the center of the Old Town where after some photo opportunities you’ll move on. One of the most characteristic features of Gdansk is the Crane Gate, situated in the old harbor. This is a short step from the Długa Street where the famous Neptune Fountain can be found. Also here is Artus Court – the meeting hall of merchants in the times of the Hanseatic League.
The walk allows you to admire the Renaissance-style burgher houses and the Main Town Hall with its carillon of 37 bells. Other buildings and monuments are the Green Gate, the Golden Gate, the High Gate, the Prison Tower, and possibly the most stunning Gdansk attraction and arguably the biggest redbrick church in Europe – St. Mary’s Church, with its well-known astronomical clock made in 1464 by Hans Düringer.
During the trip you’ll also have time to visit some Amber shops and learn about how Polish amber is extracted from the Baltic Sea and why Gdansk is the perfect place to buy this beautiful jewellery.
