The summer season of 2017 looks to be a different animal from the previous year in terms of confidence amongst the many licensees in Poland.
One of the reasons would be the continued legacy of a successful European Championships (Euro2012) putting Polish cities on the map, the other reason is the weaker currency.
The Polish Zloty (PLN) has over the last 12 months weakened versus Euro and other mainstream currencies. It simply means that Poland is getting cheaper and in this current climate when you count every pennies, Poland is once again can be considered a very worthy cheap destination.
We spoke to regular traveller Robert D Hutchinson.
“I go on a few long weekenders in each year; generally Spain would be top choice. However in this economic climate, we decided that the Euro was just too strong against the Pound. A weekender in Spain just wasn’t really that cheap when we considered the fact that a drink was setting you back around 4 Euro and suddenly a cheap 2 star hotel isn’t so cheap anymore. So a Long weekend in Poland, why not? We all know the cities are beautiful, market squares are picturesque and with budget airlines offering cheap flights…. So yeh, why wouldn’t places like Poland enter the equation!!”
