So what is a jamboree?
“It’s a gathering of friends and colleagues for the purpose of fun, frolicking and entertainment.”
It was because of a lack of awareness that 1stopJamboree was formed. I spent a number of years travelling around Europe. To be honest all was going well until I started venturing towards the east and the information started to dry up. More and more blind journeys into the unknown, the question marks over where to go and what to do became as constant as the day. I researched on various websites, but this only took me so far. I needed to find real information on places, no more learning through trial and error. Where do I get a taxi without getting ripped off, which restaurants serve the best food, which clubs are worth going to, how to do this, or where to do that? What I needed was a friend on the ground.
When a former work colleague contacted me and asked for advice on where his company should go for some corporate team building, I recommended Sopot in Poland. Later he called again and asked me to recommend a good hotel and some activities they could do. I never knew it then, but ultimately I was their friend on the ground.
In its earliest form, that’s what a Jamboree was, a tailor made organised trip, from airport arrival to airport departure. Everything planed and taken care of. Today the fundamentals are still the same; however we’ve added the conference rooms, translators, guides and a host of very different activities.
Through 1stopJamboree, I’m proud to be able to offer travellers something I never had, a friend on the ground who knows the city and speaks the language.
