About Katowice
Where is Katowice? Katowice is the largest city in the Silesian region of Poland. With just 78.80km separating Katowice from Krakow, Poland’s most converted city, it is easy for Katowice to be overlooked. Easy yes, but right? Not a chance. This is an thriving emerging city that is rated in the top 20 most powerful economical cities by GDP in Europe.
Katowice is nationally known as the grey city because of the steel, coal mining and industrial past. That tag will change over time as today the city – with a population around 300’000, is recognised for its business, investment in modern growth and just 2% unemployment, which is one of the lowest in Poland.
From a Jamboree prospective, we simply just had to showcase this city, it has attractions galore. The wonderful old town market square, the churches and cathedrals, museums and theatres, parks and events. There is no shortage of bars and clubs to keep you entertained and from an activity prospective you have everything you could want for and lots, lots more.
